MISSION STATEMENT
While we echo the Mission Statement of the
International, we feel the need to add a few core values in an effort to enhance
and perfect it.
We choose to wear leather helmets and call ourselves Leatherheads because we
have sworn to perform our duty with diligence, efficiency, and courage.
We will hold ourselves to a higher standard than that of the average
firefighter. For herein lies the quintessential difference between firefighters
and Leatherheads. Firefighters simply wear leather helmets because that was
their department’s standard issue. Leatherheads wear leather helmets because
they will search that last room, do battle with the beast on his terms, and
never leave a brother behind, ever.
We will take to our grave the knowledge of a lifetime of continued advanced fire
training in our effort to be the best firefighter in the business.
We will live in the here and the now, look toward the future with feverish
anticipation, but will never forget the sacrifices, sometimes supreme, of all
those who were here before us and called themselves firefighters.
